    A light touch required …

Colored pencil sketches. Derwent pencils, waxy not chalky, prevent smudging and my tendency toward overdoing manual blending. Still, the leads are soft and dull easily. If I remember correctly, they don’t break as much during sharpening as Conte pencils, but a forceful hand will snap the lead right off while working. It’s amazing how much of these and the Conte pencils end up in the trash bin. I bought a few of these, found them frustrating to use, moved on.

  • Arthur

It was an honor to once again this Sunday have Arthur model for us. Unfortunately, it was an off day for me. The pose was complicated, which I enjoy, but I was apparently not up to the task. There is a lack of a sense of three dimensional volume and many scratchy, searching lines that don’t really add up to more than scribbly evidence of careless uncertainty.
