Spring of ‘26

I went painting with a small group of landscape painting enthusiasts yesterday to paint the river we all drink from. I’ve looked out over that river hundreds of times and admired it—mostly I’ve admired the sky above it—but it’s different when you decide to paint it. The light changes constantly, colors appear and disappear. Clouds change shape and color or appear as a single gray monolith or don’t appear at all. It’s confounding, but it’s a challenge I’ve decided is worthwhile to continue to pursue.
